Warehouse Worker (Experienced Forklift Driver)

The Warehouse Worker receives and unloads container shipments; inspects all goods received according to established company procedures; moves freight to designated warehouse storage areas; and prepares freight for final delivery.

Key Accountabilities:
 
Receives product
  • Accurate, clear and organized paperwork
  • Labels product with correct pallet tags
  • Communicates clearly with supervisor and reports all discrepancies accurately.
  • Guards product while receiving and makes sure it is in a secure area to avoid theft from outsiders.
  • Helps with the physical unloading of trucks
 
Splits/stages product for shipping when a pallet arrives with product for different stores
  • Moves pallets to split area
  • Sorts product by store and department
  • Builds new pallets by store
  • Makes sure heavy product is always at the bottom of every pallet
  • Makes sure all the product is labeled with its corresponding pallet tag
  • Wraps pallet with the film stretch wrap to secure product
  • Moves product to store line
 
Loads/ships product to the stores
  • Builds container to make sure there is enough product for a full load
  • Keeps good communication with drivers for proper equipment availability
  • Maintains good knowledge of vessel schedules and port cut offs for the proper loading of containers by priority.
  • Inspects container before loading
  • Removes half of the pallet tag from each pallet for office use and walks through all the product checking for pallet tags left behind before loading
  • Loads containers to full capacity
Helps clean warehouse and secure all exits/docks
  • Cleans work area before leaving each day
  • Helps dispose of all garbage to keep safe work areas.
  • Assists others in cleaning break room and bathrooms
  • Makes sure to close all loading dock doors before leaving every day

Desired Skills & Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One year warehouse experience preferred. 
Forklift experience a must. 
Company will provide relevant training.

Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
Employee must be able to operate computer systems such as Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, inventory software and order processing systems.  
Employee must possess the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

Working Conditions:
The employee will be working primarily in a warehouse environment, and is required to stand 95% of the time. Employee is required to walk, bend, use full hand mechanics, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
